About CHIMI
History and workshop
CHIMI is an independent brand based in Stockholm. Beyond Sweden, where it has stores in Stockholm and Gothenburg, it now has its own stores in Paris, New York, Oslo and Cape Town. The frames in the OCCHIO! selection are cellulose acetate with full UV protection lenses, and they also take prescription lenses.
Lines and models
Many CHIMI shapes have a number instead of a name. In store and online: 04, in Grey, Black, Green, Tortoise and the photochromic Dark Grey; 05, in Tortoise and Black; 01 and 06 in Tortoise; X16, in Tortoise and Black, and X17. Alongside the numbers, three named shapes: Code, in Black and Burgundy; Iris, in Brown Porcelain and Dark Red; Tony, in Black.
How to choose
The measurements separate the shapes clearly. The most compact are 04 (lens 45, bridge 24) and 01 (46/25): suited to a narrow face or to anyone who wants sunglasses that don't cover too much. 05 (48/24) and X17 (48/23) sit in the middle. 06, Code and Iris go up to 53 mm, X16 to 54 with a 20 bridge, Tony to 56/19: the choices for a wider face or for more coverage. Temples range from 140 to 146 mm.
