Peter and May glasses are designed in Paris by two opticians, Laura Le Bihan and Xavier Matrand, who spent almost ten years in high-end eyewear before creating their own brand. The starting point is the craft: technique serving design, every frame built around proportion and balance.

History and workshop

The atelier is in the 8th arrondissement of Paris: design, prototyping and quality control happen there, and every frame is developed, adjusted and inspected one by one. The acetate comes from Mazzucchelli in Italy; for the most complex tortoiseshells Peter and May uses Japanese Takiron acetate. The five-barrel hinges are made by OBE in Germany. The entire titanium line is produced in Japan, in Japanese titanium shaped by hand. On the front, the half-cross rivet is the house signature. The same studio produces and distributes Études eyewear and produces Jacquemus eyewear.

Lines and models

Shapes to wear every day, almost all optical: Perle, Mama, Romeo, Son and Cigale, together with Amy, Sky, Leon, Hero, PM Palace, It's a Girl, Lando and Aria Nocturne. Colours are mostly black and tortoiseshell, with Saguaro, Bordeaux and Deep Blue; Amy and Sky also come as sunglasses.

How to choose

The selection sits between 46 and 55 mm lens width, with 145 mm temples. The smallest sizes are Lando (46/23), Son and Sky (47), Leon (47/24); Hero and PM Palace are 48/23. Amy and Romeo (50), Mama (51/20), Perle and Cigale (52) are the medium sizes; It's a Girl (53/20) and Aria Nocturne (55/17) the widest. Bridges of 23–24 mm, as on Son, Leon and Hero, leave more room on the nose.
