Not The Usual Eyewear Store

OCCHIO! is an eyewear boutique in Crema, Italy. The selection is built on independent brands, made in small runs in France, Japan and Italy.

Support Independent Eyewear

An independent brand decides for itself what to make and in how many units. There is no licence calendar to follow and no minimum volume to clear at the end of the season. The catalogue changes slowly: a model stays in production as long as it makes sense.

For the buyer the difference is concrete. A frame chosen today is not discontinued in March, and it still looks like the person who chose it once the shape of the year has moved on.

The method

How the selection is made

Four steps, always the same.

  1. The search

A model enters the collection after it has been seen, opened and worn. Nothing is ordered from a catalogue alone.

  2. One piece

Of each model we take one frame per colour. It is not scarcity built to sell: it is how the selection stays wide without repeating itself. When a model leaves, it often does not come back.

  3. The lens

Lenses are fitted in the workshop, to measurements taken on the face of the person who will wear them. OCCHIO! is a SEIKO Vision Specialist.

  4. The fitting

A frame is judged by wearing it. In the boutique you compare proportions, how it sits on the nose and the length of the temples. Online you compare the three numbers printed inside the temple.

    How to read the measurements

Facts, not adjectives

Lesca Lunetier was founded in 1964: riveted frames, shaped by hand, in cellulose acetate. Julius Tart Optical continues Tart Optical, New York 1948, and produces in Japan.

Every product page states material, lens width, bridge and temple length. So models can be compared online too.

The boutique is where the selection is tried on. Anyone writing from further away gets the same answers, in writing.
