With Kuboraum, the volume of a frame becomes an expressive choice. A corner can change the rhythm of the front, a bridge can draw as much attention as the lenses, a matt finish can sharpen the silhouette. The brand calls its glasses Masks, placing the relationship between frame and wearer at the centre.
Berlin, the mask and identity
Founded in Berlin in 2012 by Livio Graziottin and Sergio Eusebi, Kuboraum entrusts production to Italian craftsmanship. Its name refers to a cubic room: a personal space for expressing identity.
The word Mask belongs to that vision. A frame can amplify a feature or suggest an attitude through its volumes and surfaces. Looking at it from the side is as revealing as the front. K5, Q8 and P31 demonstrate three distinct approaches.
K5 Black Matt: a defined cat-eye
K5 rises towards the temples while keeping the lower curve more contained. Attention moves towards the upper line and outer corners. Black Matt reduces reflections and makes the colour appear more uniform.
The side view reveals the depth of the front and its transition into the temples. This optical version measures 51–20–145 mm and offers a cat-eye with a substantial structure.
Q8 Tortoise: angles and colour
Q8 develops its expression through changes in direction around both the outer front and the lenses. Amber and dark tortoiseshell areas vary the surface while preserving its angular character.
The optical Tortoise version measures 53–22–145 mm. Its lens width and nominal bridge size are greater than K5’s, but the principal visual difference lies in the geometry and colour.
P31 TO: the aviator structure
P31 uses a double bridge to connect the two halves of the front. The aviator reference is recognisable, interpreted through substantial acetate and lenses with greater vertical presence.
P31 TO is shown here as a tortoiseshell sunglass. It measures 51–19–145 mm: the same lens width as K5, with a different bridge and shape. The close-up reveals the depth of the upper bar and the lens rims.

How finish changes the perception of volume
To read a Mask, follow its rim from the outside towards the lens. Where does it widen or change angle? These transitions reveal the depth of a front that might initially seem simple. A side photograph adds essential information, especially when a dark colour makes different planes hard to distinguish.
On K5 Black Matt, restrained reflections emphasise the silhouette. In Q8 Tortoise and P31 TO, variations in the acetate break up the surface with lighter and darker areas. Consider whether you are drawn mainly to the strength of the outline or also to the pattern of colour within it.
Choosing your first Mask
Start with its use: the K5 Black Matt and Q8 Tortoise shown here are optical frames; the P31 TO is a sunglass version. In the photographs, consider how much the dark lenses contribute to the P31’s presence before attributing the whole effect to its shape.
Then choose the direction of the front: rising in K5, angular in Q8, built around a double bridge in P31. A striking frame can feel natural when you recognise yourself in that line.
