PALOCERAS

Paloceras was founded in 2022 by Mika Matikainen, from Finland, and Alexis Perron-Corriveau, from Canada, who met on the master's programme at ECAL in Lausanne. The name comes from Rhopalocera, Latin for butterfly, without the first syllable.

About Paloceras

Screen first, then acetate

Pebble is not drawn with a pencil. It was born in Lisbon from a physics simulation: digital spheres that collide and merge until they settle into a shape. That shape is then cut in Mazzucchelli acetate and finished by hand, in small runs. The result is a full, smooth frame that weighs less than it looks. Since September 2024, when the collection came out, the same idea has grown: since 2025 a MicroFactory in Helsinki combines 3D printing and hand finishing; since January 2026 Nouvelle Fiction brings the same language to optical frames.

Can prescription lenses be fitted?

Yes, on Nouvelle Fiction, in our in-house lab. Progressive lenses require measurements taken in person.
