In rimless glasses the lens isn't enclosed by a rim: the bridge and temples attach directly to the lens with screws or pins. All that's left of the front are the mounting points, and the outline of the lens becomes the design of the frame. It's the lightest construction you can wear, for prescription glasses and sunglasses alike.
The lens shape is chosen in the lab together with the frame: the same model can be cut rounder, squarer or lower. To browse a single category, open rimless eyeglasses or rimless sunglasses. We explain how rimless frames work and which lenses they need in the Journal: Rimless glasses: how they work. For a slim profile with a rim, explore our titanium glasses.
Rimless glasses for men and women
Almost every model in the selection is unisex: without a rim, the character of the frame comes from the lens shape and the colour of the metal. For a men's rimless frame, many start from the EYEVAN Orbit AG in titanium or Kuboraum's H-series Masks in gunmetal and silver. For a women's rimless frame, from Leisure Society's Aubrey, plated in 24K gold, or the Kuboraum P63 with pink lenses. Every other shape is in men's optical glasses and women's optical glasses.
Rimless glasses: the brands
The selection includes the Orbit series by EYEVAN, several metal Masks by Kuboraum, the Aubrey by Leisure Society and the Moonbeam designed by T HENRI with Tamara Ralph. A few models to start with: EYEVAN Orbit AG, EYEVAN Orbit P, Kuboraum P62, Kuboraum P56 Gold, Leisure Society Aubrey and T HENRI Moonbeam Verdant Serenade.
Rimless glasses: frequently asked questions
What's the difference between rimless and semi-rimless (nylor)?
In rimless glasses the lens has no rim at all and is drilled. In nylor, or semi-rimless, frames a half rim holds the lens at the top and a thin nylon cord supports it underneath.
Can they be made with prescription lenses?
Yes: the lens is drilled and shaped in the lab. In our guide we explain which lenses are used and why.
Can I try them on before buying?
Yes, at our boutique in Crema, Italy. Online you'll find photos, measurements and availability for every model, with shipping abroad too.
