About this frame
The R4 “Kadapat” is the most ritualistic Mask of the Ocean Cage capsule. Its semi-transparent polygonal front is crossed by small raised red elements and completed by side rings, details that turn the frame into a sculptural object.
The purple lenses reinforce the model’s radical character, creating a composition suspended between accessory, symbol and work of art. A Mask designed for those who want to wear something truly out of the ordinary.
Each frame is crafted and enamelled by hand. The small variations left by the artisanal process make every pair different in its details.
ASIANDOPEBOYS X KUBORAUM
OCEAN CAGE CAPSULE COLLECTION
Ocean Cage was born from the encounter between KUBORAUM and Tianzhuo Chen, Chinese artist and founder of the ASIANDOPEBOYS collective.
The capsule translates into six Masks the visual language of Moyang 先祖 & Seaman 漁師, a performance in which Noh theatre, Nusantara traditions, stage design, choreography and electronic-gamelan music merge into a universe suspended between art, ritual and transformation.
Presented in Venice during the opening week of the 61st Biennale Arte, Ocean Cage brings Chen’s artistic research to the frames, turning each Mask into a wearable work of art.
KUBORAUM calls its frames “masks”. The idea is that eyewear can change how we see ourselves and how we present ourselves to others: an object through which to play, recognise ourselves and express different aspects of our personality.
The name evokes a cubic room, a personal space in which to feel at ease and free to be ourselves. This image shapes the brand’s approach, treating the frame as a place to inhabit, close to the face and to individual identity.
