Choosing the right size helps your glasses feel comfortable, stable and in proportion with your face. Here is a simple way to compare a frame online with a pair you already wear comfortably.
How to read glasses measurements
You will often find three numbers inside the temple, for example 49□21–145:
- 49 mm: lens width;
- 21 mm: bridge width;
- 145 mm: temple length.
The total width of the frame also matters for fit. Two pairs with the same stated measurements can fit differently because of their shape, acetate thickness and temple angle.
The most useful comparison
- Take a pair of glasses you wear comfortably.
- Read the numbers printed inside the temple.
- Compare them with the measurements on the product page.
- If the difference is only a few millimetres, also consider the shape and overall width.
How should glasses fit?
- The bridge should rest comfortably without slipping or pressing into your nose.
- The temples should remain parallel without splaying out at the sides of your head.
- The frame should not touch your cheeks when you smile.
- Your eyes should look well centred within the lenses.
