About this frame
The DOUGLAS model with clear lenses is handmade in Japan by expert craftsmen. It is made of titanium and is suitable for prescription lenses. The frame comes with a case and a lens cleaning cloth.
MR. GENTLEMAN EYEWEAR was founded in Japan in 2012 by Toshiyuki Koune. Before moving into design, Koune developed his experience through his own eyewear store. Working closely with both frames and their wearers became the starting point for the brand.
The design considers the appearance of a frame alongside the work required to make it. Individual components, assembly and surface treatments, including plating, receive particular attention. These details contribute to a frame’s character even when they are not immediately apparent.
Production is entrusted to selected workshops in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, a historic centre of Japanese eyewear making. There, artisans develop Koune’s ideas through their manufacturing skills, from the design to the final finishes.
