LEISURE SOCIETY GLASSES & SUNGLASSES

A Leisure Society frame is made like a piece of jewellery: pure titanium, then a bath of 12, 18 or 24 karat gold. Shane Baum, a Californian designer and CFDA member, has them made by hand in Japan in numbered editions, often of sixty pieces. The idea is simple: an object to hand down.

Leisure Society Glasses & Sunglasses

Real gold on shapes that do not age

Aviator, panto, semi-rimless, with hardware taken from glasses of sixty years ago. Titanium keeps the weight to a few grams; the plating gives the colour of white, yellow or rose gold or ruthenium, and it is not paint: it lasts. Optical: Sulcova, Vittoria, Verlaine, Anacapa, Avalon II; sunglasses: Campden and Sacco. From the Journal: Leisure Society: the value of details.
