Masunaga glasses come from Fukui, Japan: the company was founded on 1 June 1905 by Gozaemon Masunaga, who brought craftsmen from Osaka to establish frame making in the region. The main factory has been in Fukui since 1955 and works with an integrated production cycle.

Masunaga

A few milestones: in 1933 the Emperor, visiting Fukui, was presented with three Masunaga frames; in 2000 Masunaga became the first Japanese company to win the Silmo d'Or for sunglasses; in 2015 the GMS-106 won the Silmo d'Or in the optical frames category.

At OCCHIO! the selection is optical. From the Masunaga line we carry the GMS-106 in three colours, GMS-116, GMS-117, GMS-123, GMS-124, GMS-804, GMS-825 and GMS-833, alongside One Hundred, Fuller, Lex, Urbanite and Rhapsody, and the KK-000 with clip-on, KK-050, KK-065, KK-087 and KK-089.

Then there is Masunaga designed by Kenzo Takada, the line launched in Paris in 2014 that brings ma, the Japanese aesthetic principle of space and interval, into the frame, with sculpted detailing on the tips and decorative parts: Altair, Aster, Caph, Hadar, Lepus, Mimosa and Orchid.

Do you ship Masunaga to Dubai, the UAE and Israel?

Yes. Every frame ships from Crema, Italy, by tracked express courier to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the United Arab Emirates, to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, and to Israel. Any import duties and local taxes are paid by the recipient on delivery.

Do you ship Masunaga to the United States, the UK and the rest of Europe?

Yes. From Crema we ship by tracked express courier to the United States (free over 200 €, US duties are on us: nothing to pay on delivery), to the United Kingdom (free over 299 €, any duties paid on delivery), to Switzerland and Liechtenstein (25 €, free over 150 €, any duties paid on delivery), to every EU country (15 €, free over 150 €, no customs duties) and to Norway (15 €, free over 150 €, Norwegian VAT and any duties paid on delivery).
